I know we've had threads about this in the past, but it's been awhile since anyone chimed in. My psychedelic biochemical friends say that they believe there's no "tiddly" effect, as I used to call it, from absinthe's thujone content. What do you say?

Re: Thujone effect in absinthe disproved?
Mon, April 27, 2009 - 7:35 PMThanks! We all used to believe it, and so I hope to hear from others here. The home-made absinthe I really felt I experienced it with was that made by a Santa Cruz friend who took a whole branch of artemisia absinthum and put it in a bottle of vodka for a month. Maybe that was power of suggestion, but I've never felt that same "tiddly" as I call it (and as we sometimes read in the reports of the fin de siècle French guys) experience with -any- commercial absinthes....

Re: Thujone effect in absinthe disproved?
Tue, April 28, 2009 - 1:38 PMThere is ABSOLUTELY a peculiar buzz/effect from proper Absinthe WITH the thujone in it ...
Viridian Spirits and Ted Breaux would like you to not know this in order that they may sell more Lucid/etcetra which has none or barely detectable levels ...
MAKE YOUR OWN ABSINTHE and find out ...
I did .

Re: Thujone effect in absinthe disproved?
Tue, April 28, 2009 - 3:59 PMAt a certain bar at last years Burning Man, they had some home brewed Absinthe done the correct way by distilling and soaking, I certainly felt the buzz of the alcohol and the tiddly effect off the thujones, in a very good way! They were very generous and shared with everyone. I have yet to try the commerical stuff yet, but will let you know.

Re: Thujone effect in absinthe disproved?
Wed, April 29, 2009 - 10:13 AMI made an infusion with 151, a bunch of spices, and wormwood and I definitely felt something. After maybe 3 or 4 shots of 151 I felt no alcohol effects and all the colors around me were extremely heightened.

Re: Thujone effect in absinthe disproved?
Mon, May 25, 2009 - 9:22 AMThere is most definitely and absinthe effect. It is like living life in "HD". Everything is sharper and clearer. Some absinthe produces this effect and some does not. Check out this link. It goes into more detail. Absinthe">blog.lib.umn.edu/alah0007/...">Absinthe Effect

Re: Thujone effect in absinthe disproved?
Mon, May 25, 2009 - 1:17 PMI have noticed that absinthe doesn't make me as sleepy as other kinds of alcohol, but that it a far cry from pseudo-hallucinogenic effects.
Something's still missing. -
