Re: Le Tourment Vert
Fri, July 4, 2008 - 4:40 AMI happen to like it, but it's not a mainstream absinthe - it's more of a varietal.
Enjoy it while you can, the distillery claims it was a limited edition.
I've got an extra bottle that is stashed away for some unknown event in the future. -

Mon, July 14, 2008 - 5:43 PMI like this one too. It has a subtle flavor which I enjoy. It is available at a couple of my local bottle shops and I did ask if it would disappear off the shelves soon. Luckily the guy I spoke to had a few bottles, but he said he can order it so I think you should be able to buy it at your local bottle store.

Re: Le Tourment Vert
Mon, July 14, 2008 - 6:39 PMI was recently an extra in a 3D twelve minute short film that David Arquette directed and produced but was funded and sponsored by Le Tourment Verte; the film is titled, 'The Butler's In Love.' It stars David Arquette, Elizabeth Berkely (Showgirls, Saved By The Bell), Thomas Jane (The Punisher), and Jennifer Siebel (Gavin Newsome's soon to be wife). It was filmed in three days last April in San Francisco, and it premiered three weeks ago at the Metreon Theater near Mosconi Center. The 3D was really well done, definitely not your old idea of things flying out to hit you from the screen. Basically, this new format just pulled the entire focus of the scene floating right in front of you, sort of incorporating you into the scene.
The afters party was at a local bar called Roe, and it was open-bar inclduing as much Le Tourment Verte Absinthe that you could drink. They plan to create three more shorts and possibly release all of them in one DVD.
Cheers! -

Re: Le Tourment Vert
Fri, August 1, 2008 - 9:52 AMA few weeks ago Paul Nathan and I were visiting the distillery in Cognac where they bottle Le Tourment Vert. The actual manuafacturing of it goes on in a top secret locale. They're still squeezing it out, but they're putting it in littler bottles now.

Re: Le Tourment Vert
Fri, August 1, 2008 - 3:09 PMI really like this product, and after some research, I found out it is REAL absinthe. It has the three necessary ingredients which make
it an absinthe - grand wormwood, anise and fennel. Anyway, what I wanted to tell you was I have found a few bars serving it in mixed
drinks - I hadn't thought of doing that before with absinthe. I had something called a Gargoyle, it is mixed with fresh lemon juice. If you
still have your bottle at home you can try mixing it too. I also saw it mixed, kind of like a mojito with mint leaves. I never listen to what others say about a drink, if I like it I drink it and le tourment vert is a drink I like. -

Fri, August 1, 2008 - 8:54 PMThanks to you both, Delachaux and Thor, for your affirmations a/o comments about this absinthe! I have enjoyed many over the years, and this one is so...different...I was waiting for others beyond my own tasting group to say what they thought.

Fri, August 8, 2008 - 3:03 PMYou are very welcome. I am old enough now not to bow to peer pressure and eat and drink what I like no matter what anyone else tells me. -

Fri, August 8, 2008 - 4:30 PMA. Delachaux,
I'm friends with Paul Nathan, really great guy. I've read his blog lately and you guys must have had a great time, really liked reading the running of the bulls episode. I spoke with Paul two days ago, he's in Hanover, DE.
Thor,
I believe you and I know each other from a few BECA classes at SFSU, and I believe I gave you some Absinthe after filming an Absinthe piece in Rick Houlberg's class in 2005. Not many guys named Thor around, unless you are in Denmark or Amsterdam.
Cheers,
Jeff -

Re: Le Tourment Vert
Mon, December 29, 2008 - 8:57 AMHmm... I have to admit I was i little disappointed upon finally trying Le Tourment.
First::: the color; seems almost neon at first pour. With water it opalesces to a crayon tone. I'm surprised noone here has mentioned that they USE FOOD COLORING!!! yet
Second::: the flavor; It has an admiralable nose, tones of mint and not too overpowering on the anise(they use star anise?). The taste again, very disappointing. Mint extract!?! That's the first tone I taste, then a kind of chemical taste to the back of the throat.
In todays day and age, one must be curious when a distillery wants to hide not only its processes but it's location?! It seems to me the best purveyors of quality products that I have seen (St George Absinthe Verte here in the states, and My current favorite Jade liqueurs '1901') are also very proud of their skills, location, stills. and want to share them with the world , not hide some extracting facility using chemical colors.....
That being said I am glad to hear that it does meet others palates, as such beautiful packaging should not go to waste. -

Re: Le Tourment Vert
Wed, December 31, 2008 - 4:06 AMj'miah....i've had the pleasure of your absinthe...in many forms.
gluttonus, i might say. and, i think you make some of THE BEST ABSINTHE i've ever had. THE BEST....
Salt Lake City Johnny is a contender, for sure.
I've tasted more absinthe than alot of people, i believe.
i am, in no way comparing Le Tourment Vent to either of your elixers..
no fucking way...and, no fucking comparison.'
you both surpass it for many reasons...mostly for ultimately taste, and complexity, but, i must say...
for commercially produced absinthe, the Le Tourment Vert is a hit. a great hit.
i actually love the color and taste.
it's a winner.
it doesn't beat yours or johnny's, but, off the shelf....it's beats anything else off the shelf i've tasted so far.
koodos to your and johnny's elixirs, for sure.
you win hands down.
much love and respect to you both for producing the best absinthe in the world.

Re: Le Tourment Vert
Tue, September 22, 2009 - 8:35 AMit's NOTHING like real Absinthe . NOTHING . It's more akin to floor cleaner in a cutesy bottle than anything else .
avoid it like the black plague or ebola virus or glenn beck or ... etc . -
